The History of
Marguerite Farms

Nicole Haney, Owner & Gardener

I was raised with my fingers in the dirt, soaking in all the gardening knowledge my mother and grandmother passed down to me. My love of flowers runs deep and Marguerite Farms was born in 2019. I get asked about the meaning behind the name “Marguerite” often and it’s simple: daisies are my favorite and “marguerite” is the word for “daisy” in French!

Flower Farm Life

After working in healthcare through the height of the pandemic and having my third child, I decided I needed a change. With the encouragement of family and friends, I looked for something that could help me take control of my schedule while empowering myself and my three daughters. My in-laws graciously gifted me a small piece of their land in Norwalk to experiment with growing flowers and, in turn, the business. We’ve since purchased land in Martensdale, about a half hour south of Des Moines, and have big plans for 2025!

Iowa Prairie Love

I get to do what I’m passionate about each day. How cool is that?! My work gives me so much peace and I love sharing it with my loved ones and customers. From the second I started Marguerite Farms, a priority has been to help promote the preservation and respect of our wildflowers and landscape. Our native Iowa prairies are natural ecosystems that are vital to supporting flora and fauna, water quality, soil nutrients, and more. There are so many things we can do each day to help support and preserve our natural habitat and I’m happy to share facts and tips with anyone who will listen!

Make Your Day Gorgeous

The focus here is on prairie wildflowers if you haven’t guessed yet, but we also grow fan favorites like tulips and dahlias! I love combining my expertise and passion for flowers with our wide variety of blooms grown right here in Central Iowa to make your day extra-beautiful!
